MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 12: The Mumbai Police on Saturday solved a murder case within 24 hours and arrested three people who gagged a housewife in Matunga to death and escaped with the stolen property on Friday.

The incident took place at Sri Niketan building, Adenwala Road at around 5:30 pm when two unidentified persons barged in to the house of Meenaskhi Desai (57).

According to statement give by the servant, Kisanlal Jat, the duo stabbed him with a knife and escaped from the scene after stealing Rs 5000, a VCR and a camera.

However, the the servant was interrogated more closely after a medical inspection of his injuries showed that they were self inflicted. After resisting for a while, the servant finally confessed that he had hatched a conspiracy with his two friends to rob this house, Sub Insepctor Subhash Madne said.

According to the police, the woman died of suffocation. The Matunga police have registered a case of murder with robbery.

The police arrested Kisanlal, his two associates Ramesh Jat and Bhavarlal Jat and recovered the entire stolen property, Madne said.
