
PANCHKULA, Oct 5: The district administration has taken special steps for the counting of votes which starts here early tomorrow morning. Election Commission observer A.K. Prasad will be monitoring the counting process which is expected to last about 18 hours. This information was given by an election official here today.
The counting, that will be done at the BEL Colony in Sector 14 here, will start at 8 a.m. The counting centre will have 15 tables and the centre has been linked with the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commissioner through the computer network, that will help speed up the process of sending information related to the results.
To maintain law and order, 215 police personnel have been deployed around the counting centre and there will be one constable at every table where counting will be done.
Three Duty Magistrates have also been deployed, out of which one will be inside the counting centre, while two would remain outside. Deputy Commissioner Vivek Joshi and Superintendent of Police Alok Mittal will be present at the centre. The official said 1,000 votes will be counted at each table and there will be seven rounds of counting, each involving 15,000 votes.
The counting will start after the mixing of votes so as to avoid the classification of booths. A team of doctors and a fire brigade have also been deployed at the centre. The total number of votes to be counted is 1,02,420, for which a counting staff of 264 has been deployed. The staff consists of government employees from the district.
A special PCO booth has also been set up outside the counting centre for media and government officials. No one will be allowed to carry mobile phones and pagers or any other mode of communication within a radius of 200 metres of the counting centre.
