AHMEDABAD, Nov 24: One Arvindsinh Babubhai Vaghela 31, a resident of Ranip, was allegedly kidnapped from the busy Raipur Darwaja area late on Wednesday night.
According to the Kagdapith police, Arvindsinh, a resident of A-46, Sagar Apartments, near Navsarjan high school, Ranip has in a complaint claimed that four unidentified persons in a Ambassador car and two scooters accosted him outside Raipur Darwaja and forced him into the Ambassador. One of the four then followed the car on Arvindsinh8217;s scooter. The scooter was in the name of his father, Babubhai Vaghela.
Arvindsinh said he was then taken to a dark lane where he was beaten up and Rs 4,000 in cash, a gold chain, gold ring, mobile phone worth Rs 30,000 and the scooter taken from him. He said he was again put into the Ambassador and dumped on the Narol highway.
Kagdapith Second Police Inspector G B Chauhan is investigating the case.
However, Deputy Commissioner of Police M D Antani, who was on a visit to the Kagdapith police station, doubted the veracity of Arvindsinh8217;s complaint. According to him, a kidnap outside Raipur Darwaja at 9 pm was difficult as the area was quite crowded at that time.
Antani felt the complaint might have been registered after Arvindsinh lost his scooter. He said that if at all he was kidnapped, the reason would have been personal rivalry. Arvindsingh is the son of a head constable working at Shahibaugh police station.
Police said that Arvindsinh was not able to give the number of the vehicle used in the kidnap or a description of his kidnappers though he did show the police the place from where he was kidnapped and then dumped.
