Make acquisition easier 8212; Nilekani

Infosys has provided ICICI Bank with BancsPay, an electronic bills presentment and payment software, to enhance its internet banking services. ICICI Bank is the first to live with the new software. The bank had 24,000 internet banking customers as on December, 1999, and four customers for electronic bill payment facility 8212; MTNL, Mumbai, BPL, Mumbai, BEST, Tata Teleservices, Hyderabad and Command Cell, Calcutta. It does not have any customers as yet for electronic bill presentment.

The ICICI website was named one of the top 150 websites in survey done by Forbes recently, managing director and CEO H N Sinor said. The list contains around 15 banking sites of which ICICI is one, he added.

ICICI Bank, a subsidiary of ICICI, recently filed for listing on the Nasdaq. Securities and Exchange Commission approval is expected in the next couple of weeks, Signor said. The bank had assets of 2.3 billion on December, 1999. Net income for the nine months ended December, 1999, was 16.63 million as per US GAAP.
