Brian Lara was retained as captain after the West Indies Cricket Board bowed down to his threat that he would quit if changes were not made in the selection panel.
Former West Indies openner Gordon Greenidge was appointed as the new convener of selectors following a meeting by the directors of the West Indies Cricket Board WICB in Barbados. Greenidge will be joined by Andy Roberts and Clyde Butts, according to local media reports today.
Roberts is the new face in the current panel, following Joey Carew8217;s resignation a few days back. Butts and Greenidge were already members of the old panel.
Carew had insisted that his decision to resign had nothing to do with Lara8217;s comments during the recent Test series against India.
While retaining Lara as captain, the board confirmed that he was indeed a part of the selection panel along with Bennett King, the West Indies coach.
