Kohli taking tips from seniors to tackle Mendis

The under-19 captain Virat Kohli has been taking tips from his seniors on how to tackle the mystery spinner Mendis.

Wary of Ajantha Mendis’ threat, young middle-order batsman Virat Kohli, who will make his debut in the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, has been taking valuable tips from his seniors on how to tackle the mystery spinner.

“I have been talking to (Virender) Sehwag and (Gautam) Gambhir frequently in the nets and they have been very helpful to make me understand what went wrong in the test series. They are specifically giving useful advice on how to face Mendis,” Kohli said after India’s practice session in Colombo I on Thursday.

He also said that the entire team was fit and raring to go against the Lankans in the ODI series.

“We are all fit and determined to put up a good show in the series,” said Kohli, who led India U-19 team to the World Cup triumph earlier this year.

The Delhi lad also said that he was immensely benefitted from the guidance of India’s World Cup winning U-19 side coach Dav Whatmore and his Indian Premier League side Bangalore Royal Challengers batting consultant Martin Crowe.

Whatmore is also the head coach of the Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy.
