Karnataka8217;s development our priority: Yeddyurappa

Exuding confidence that the BJP-JDS government would remain stable, newly sworn-in Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday said the coalition government8217;s prime focus would be Karnataka8217;s development.

8220;The state8217;s development is our priority,8221; Yeddyurappa told reporters minutes after being sworn-in as the Chief Minister.

He said a joint legislature party meeting of BJP and JDS would be soon convened.

A coordination committee would be formed to sort out any differences with coalition partner JDS.

8220;We will follow coalition dharma,8221; Yeddyurappa said, adding, his role model is former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, who successfully ran a government with several coalition partners at the Centre.

Yeddyurappa assured minorities that there would be no discrimination against them.

Along with him, four BJP legislators 8212; Govind M Karjol, V S Acharya, Jagadish Shettar and R Ashok, took oath as Cabinet ministers.

It was a show of strength by the BJP at the swearing-in ceremony as top BJP leaders including L K Advani and Rajnath Singh were present to witness it.

It8217;s a 8220;historic8221; moment for the BJP as Yeddyurappa became the party8217;s first Chief Minister in the South.
