JMMU to call on PM, Advani for separate state

RANCHI, NOV 8: A JMMU delegation will soon call on Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Union Home Minister L K Advani to press for creation of a separate Jharkhand/Vananchal state before the coming Assembly polls in Bihar, a senior leader of the party said.

The decision to send the delegation to New Delhi was taken at a meeting of JMMU central committee at Ramgarh near here recently, a release by party general secretary Sudhir Mahato said here on Monday. A resolution adopted at the meeting said JMMU would launch a mass agitation in the region if the BJP-led NDA Government at the centre failed to fulfill the 8220;regional aspiration for a separate state8221; before the Assembly elections in the State, the release said.
