Jindal surprise Otters

Relative newcomers to the scene, Jindal Sports Club surprised Otters Club, who have made a name for themselves with their wealth of talent, in the juniors8217; team event of the Motilal Sanghi Inter-Club squash tournament at the Otters, today.

In a hard-fought match, Jindal, who travel 72 km daily from Vasind to take part in the event, went two-up thanks to their under-15 players Ashwini Bhosale and Supreet Singh winning their matches.

Otters pulled back with Vishal Kapoor defeating Arvind Singh in the clash between the under-17 and Parth Doshi overcoming Vijay Jangra in the under-19 encounter. However, in a dramatic twist of fortunes Mahesh Verma gave an inspired display to overcome National champion Junaid Nathani, 9-6, 9-4, 9-3, and clinch the issue for Jindal.

Mahesh Verma8217;s performance was most creditable as he had been beaten 5-9, 4-9, 5-9, by Nathani in the under-17 final of the individual event last Sunday.

Having lost to the Cricket Club of India earlier, Jindal now have a 2-1 win-loss record after three matches. The CCI, on the other hand, posted their third straight win by defeating Willingdon Sports Club, 4-1. Otters too have a 2-1 match record.

The CCI posted their third win in the Masters event as well when they beat Willingdon Sports Club, 6-1. So did Bombay Gymkhana who received a walk-over from United Services Club. The CCI-Bombay Gymkhana clash tomorrow could well decide the Masters title.
