Do you want to look like a million dollars sans accessories and make-up? Well, all you need to do is pick up an outfit in a jewel tone8212;an emerald green, a topaz yellow, a ruby red, an amethyst purple or a sapphire blue. And vouching for the same are designers such as Ranna Gill, Tarun Tahliani, Hemant Sagar and Gauri-Nainika Karan. They have incorporated jewel toned-outfits in their fall/winter lines. 8220;Since jewel hues are dark, bold and intense, they suit the cooler season. They also go well with the tanned Indian skin,8221; says Gill.
A jewel tone is a shade of the precious, classic and expensive gemstone. And thus, by draping yourself in a tourmaline green or a turquoise blue garment, you too can exude wealth, class and rarity 8212;a cut above the rest in a crowd.
The jewel-toned outfits are best suited for an evening out with their high glam quotient. 8220;The colours are so rich that they can glamorise any outfit8212;a cocktail dress or a flowing gown. And best, you don8217;t need to accessorise for glamour sake, specially if the jewel outfit has a strong silhouette,8221; says Gauri Karan. But if you are an accessory freak, no worries, Gill says that jewel tones can go with all kinds of accessories. Fabrics such as silk, satin and georgette look best with the jewel shine. 8220;Basically, they look good on feminine and fluid fabrics,8221; says Karan.
