MUMBAI, Sept 23: Lack of adequate infrastructure and bureaucracy are the two primary deterrents to Italian investment in India, Gaetono Zucconi, ambassador of Italy, said on Tuesday. Addressing industrialists at the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry here, Zucconi felt although infrastructure constraints frightened potential investors away, it was not as big a hurdle as bureaucracy.
quot; You never know where you stand you first get permission, then you realise there is a second permission to be got, then a third8230;,quot; he said, adding that unless the number of ministries were reduced, bureaucracy would continue to create problems. India should gradually restrict the number of ministries to around eight.
