CALCUTTA, May 27: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today honoured the past and present cricket captains for their contribution to Indian cricket during the second final of the Pepsi Independence Cup at the Eden Gardens here tonight.

Beginning with Lala Amarnath, 17 Indian skippers including the present incumbent Sachin Tendulkar were presented with a silver salver each on the occasion of the tournament held to celebrate the golden jubilee of Indian independence.

Lustily cheered by around 75,000 cricket enthusiasts in the magnificently lit up Eden Gardens, the captains were driven around the field in flower-bedecked jeeps.

Vijay Hazare was presented the C K Nayudu Trophy and Rs two lakh in cash.Others who were honoured were Lala Amarnath, Polly Umrigar, D K Gaekwad, Pankaj Roy, G S Ramchand, Nari Contractor, Chandu Borde, Ajit Wadekar, Bishen Singh Bedi, S Venkatraghavan, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shashtri, K Srikkanth, Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar.

The chairman of the C K Nayudu Award Committee, N K P Salve gave away the mementos.
