
MOGA, April 26: India beat Pakistan 61-32 in the fifth and final kabaddi Test at village Badal, near here, last evening. The winners led 27-20 at half time. The Indian team was given Rs. 50,000 as a cash award while the Pakistanis got Rs. 40,000.
India8217;s Harvinder Binda was declared the best raider while Pakistan8217;s Sagar was the best stopper. Both were given cash awards of Rs. 5,000 each by the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Meanwhile in wrestling, Haroon Khan Pak beat Gurjant Singh Ind, Gurvinder Singh Ind beat Zahid Khan Pak, Mohammed Ali Pak beat Zora Singh Ind, Mohammed Umar Pak beat Satish Singh Ind, Jagjit Singh Ind beat Mohammed Usman Pak while the Bharat Kesri8217; Randhir Dheere Ind beat Rustam-e-Pakistan8217; Abdul Majid Pak in respective bouts.
Speaking on the occasion, Badal said that the visit by the Pakistani sportspersons will go a long way in promoting diplomatic ties between the two countries. He thanked the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for sending Pakistani sportspersons for the Tercentenary celebrations of the Birth of Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib recently.
The manager of the Pakistani delegation, Jahan Khan thanked the Indians for their welcome and hospitality.
Women8217;s boxing
The general body meeting of the Chandigarh Amateur Women8217;s Boxing Association, which met in Chandigarh today under the chairmanship of Gurbinder Kaur, has decided to organise its first state championship on August 21 and 22. Joint Director Sports JPS Sidhu also attended the meeting.
