Rain/Thundershowers are likely at most places in Orissa and many places in Jharkhand, a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.

Following is the forecast valid until the morning of July 30.

Rain/Thundershowers are likely at:

East: Most places in Orissa; many places in Jharkhand; a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim; isolated places in Bihar.

North: A few places in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan; isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir.

Central: Most places in Chattisgarh; many places in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha.

Peninsula: Most places in Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala; many places in Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, interior Karnataka; a few places in south coastal Andhra Pradesh; isolated places in Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu.

Islands: Most places in Lakshadweep; a few places in Andaman and Nicobar.

Temperatures recorded in four metropolitan centres were:

Kolkata: Max 33 1 dc/ Min 27 1 dc

New Delhi: Max 33 -1 dc/ Min 27 N dc

Chennai: Max 35 n dc/ Min 24 -2 dc

Mumbai: Max 26 -4 dc/ Min 23 -2 dc.

The low pressure area over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off south Orissa-north Andhra coasts now lies as a well marked low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and south Orissa coast. Associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 kms a.s.l. The axis of monsoon trough at sea level passes through Phalodi, Jhalawar, Sagar, Jabalpur, Titlagarh, the centre of the well marked low pressure area and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal. The off-shore trough at sea level from Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast persists. The cyclonic circulation over Gujarat Region and neighbourhood persists and now lies between 2.1 and 3.6 kms a.s.l. The cyclonic circulation extending up to 0.9 km a.s.l. over northwest Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab persists. The cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood has become less marked. The western disturbance as an upper air system over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourhood has moved away northeastwards.

Total rainfall during the past 24 hours at 182 available stations in the plains, out of 291 stations, is 342 cms.

Normal for the above 182 stations is 183 cms.

The southwest Monsoon has been vigorous in Konkan and Goa and active in Orissa, east Rajasthan, Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal and south interior Karnataka and Kerala. It has been subdued in Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh.
