No replacements for Sachin: Lele
MUMBAI: Cricket Board Secretary Jayawant Lele ruled out chances of sending any reinforcement to Sri Lanka for skipper Sachin Tendulkar, following recurrence of his back problem. “Where is the question of sending any reinforcement when only one league match is left to be played (in the Aiwa Cup tournament in Sri Lanka),” Lele said.
Azhar fitness
MUMBAI: Mohammed Azharuddin, who underwent a shoulder operation after the World Cup and was ruled out of the ongoing AIWA Cup at Sri Lanka and tri-nation tourney at Singapore, is yet to produce the fitness certificate. The Cricket Board president, Rajsingh Dungarpur, said Azhar was expected to produce the certificate by August end.

PUNE: Abhijit Kunte continued his unbeaten run in the Mind Sports Olympiad Masters Chess Championship in London holding Grandmaster Zilberman (Israel) in 18 moves with black pieces in the 7th round on Saturday.
Kunte did not take any risk in the important round, as the overall average in the championship will be decisive in confirming his third and final GM norm. Kunte has five points from seven. IM V Saravanan (4) lost with black pieces to GM Murey Yacov (Russia) in 42moves.
