
Indian claims triathlon gold
CHENNAI: Kaptan Singh of Services Sports Control Board won a gold medal in the eighth Asian Triathlon Championship that ended in Sokocho city of South Korea on July 11.
According to the Indian Triathlon Federation ITF, Singh8217;s achievement came in the 30 years and above category with a timing of two hours, 10 minutes and 24 seconds.
Fed Cup hockey
CHENNAI: Prominent players, including members of the silver medal-winning Indian squad at the Bangkok Asian Games, will participate in the sixth women8217;s Federation Cup hockey tournament in Tirupati from July 19-26.
Besides four-time winners and reigning National champions Indian Railways, seven other teams which qualified from last year8217;s Senior Nationals at Chennai are in the fray in the tournament being held after two years.

Four-nation meet
NAIROBI: A four-nationcricket tournament involving India, Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe will be held here from September 24-October 5, Kenya Cricket Association KCA chairman Sharad Ghai revealed.
South Africa and Zimbabwe have accepted the format of play, where each team plays each other and the best two proceed to the final. Fixtures will be released after India confirms its participation.
