Jeev stays joint fourth

NEW DELHI: Jeev Milkha Singh could manage only a level-par 72 in the third round but held on to his joint fourth position after the third round at the European Grand Prix golf championship at Hexham, England.

The Indian, who had two rounds of 68 and 69, fell two strokes behind to be seven-strokes off the pace after returning seven-under 209 under windy conditions at the Slaley Hall Course on Saturday.

Ex-boxer dead

CALCUTTA: Former joint secretary of Indian Amateur Boxing Federation IABF Bhabatosh Deb died at a city nursing home on Saturday after a cardiac failure.

Deb, also a former boxer and ex-secretary of Bengal Amateur Boxing Federation BABF, was in his fifties. He was a widower and left behind a daughter and a son, BABF sources said.
