
Indian juniors meet Thailand
CHENNAI: Indian Junior men8217;s Volleyball team defeated Thailand 3-1 in a league match of the Asian qualification volleyball tournament for World Championship at Ubon Rathathani Thailand, according to information received here.
India won 25-16, 25-23, 23-25 and 25-20.
According to the press release, Shankar Ganesh deceived the opponents with his tactical settings while Y Subba Rao and Jayaprakash excelled in attacks and blocks. Tom Joseph did a good job in covering the back court.
India will be playing their last league match against Chinese Taipei tomorrow.
Harikrishna among leaders
CALCUTTA: Former world under-10 champion P Harikrishna of Andhra Pradesh and strong contender M R Venkatesh of Tamil Nadu were among the six leaders after the third round in the boys under-14 section of the 12th National Children8217;s Chess Championship here today.
Both Harikrishna and Venkatesh had three points to their credit after three rounds and were leading the fieldalongwith V Parikant Gujarat, R V Sundila Bihar, S P Anand Tamil Nadu and P Kumaresh TN.
In the girls under-14, S Somani of Maharashtra, J Elonga and C Delphin, both of Tamil Nadu, were the three leader with three full points after the third round.
