Second Test in Calcutta

CALCUTTA: The second Test between India and Australia in the coming series in March is likely to be shifted from Cuttack to Calcutta.

The venue change for the match scheduled from March 12-16 is being decided after the Barabati Stadium was found inadequate by the board-appointed pitch committee, Board sources said.

Khanna manager

MUMBAI: Former India and Delhi wicket-keeper Surinder Khanna was named manager of the India A team for the 45-day tour to Pakistan commencing February 1, while junior national coach K Srikkanth would be the team8217;s coach.

Khanna would be joining the other team members, who are to assemble here tomorrow for a short camp before the team departs for Karachi on February 1.

Hockey squad

CHENNAI: The Indian hockey squad to tour Pakistan for the Test series, scheduled to be held in four venues from February 26 to March 7, would be chosen in New Delhi on January 28. The selected players would undergo a preparatory camp in Patiala fromFebruary 1 to 23.

IHF seek IMG aid

NEW DELHI: The Indian Hockey Federation IHF today announced the appointment of International Management Group IMG to seek a sponsor for the coming India-Pakistan hockey series.

Commenting on the appointment, IHF president KPS Gill said, 8220;We feel IMG are the best company to work with in developing hockey.8221;

Change in venues

MUMBAI: The non-availability of Indore to host any home matches of Madhya Pradesh has necessitated in some changes in the venues of some of the matches to be hosted by the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association in the Group C Ranji Trophy Super League championship to be held in February-March.

As per the new schedule, Madhya Pradesh would open their Super League campaign against Baroda at Rajnandgaon from February 14-17 instead of Bhilai as was announced earlier.

Selectors flayed

BANGALORE: Three representatives of South Zone selection committee have criticised, what they described as, the 8220;crude fashion8221; in which the India A cricket team to tour Pakistan next month has been chosen.
