NEW DELHI:
India will participate in the Asian Table Tennis Championships to be held in Osaka Japan from September 27.

Twelve probables both men and women will be selected on the basis of performances in the ongoing Institutional Championships at Vadodara. A preparatory camp for the probables will be held at Patiala from August 17 to September 16, according to Mool Chand Chowhan, secretary of the Table Tennis Federation of India TTFI.

Meanwhile, the Khar Gymkhana All India Prize Money Open Table Tennis Tournament will be conducted at Khar Gymkhana, Mumbai from August 8-11 in which almost all the national ranked players are expected to participate.

Golf teams
CHENNAI:
Six Indian women golfers would compete in the Malaysian Open amateur Golf Championship, scheduled to be held from tomorrow.

The Indian A8217; team would comprise Vandana Agarwal, Parnita Grewal and Urvashi Sethi-Sodhi, while Lalitha Balasubramaniam, Anjali Chopra and Shruti Khanna would form thesecond team.

PGAI sponsor
NEW DELHI:
The Professional Golf Association of India PGAI today announced Wills Sport as the umbrella sponsor for the tour on the lines of the better known Omega Tour in Asia and the Nike Tour in United States.

The 23 tournaments which form the PGAI Tour will now be called the Wills Tour but the individual tournaments will continue to retain their identity.

The Tour, which is over 23 tournaments worth Rs two crores, will be promoted by Tiger Sports Marketing.

Dravid sparkles
CHENNAI:
Rahul Dravid made a sparkling 123 to help Vijay CC post a first innings score of 315 for nine in the quarterfinal of the MRF All-India Invitation Cricket Tournament for the Buchi Babu Memorial Trophy here on Monday. Shivaji Yadav claimed four wickets for 76 and left-arm-spinner Syed Meeraj, 2 for 72.

Other highlights of the first day8217;s play in the quarterfinals were Test discard WV Raman8217;s 75, Madanagopal8217;s 84 for TNCA, Karnataka batsman Sujith Somasundar8217;s 81 and afive-wicket haul by Mahesh Bank Sports Board.

Gymkhana races
BANGALORE:
The ten-day gymkhana racing season with added stakes money will commence here from August six.

The stakes money for the season had been raised to Rs five lakhs compared to 3.78 lakh offered last year.

Anand in action
CHENNAI:
Indian Grandmaster Viswananthan Anand will be seen in action in the four-hour clock simultaneous display8217; Chess Tournament at the Russian Cultural Centre here on August 8. Six upcoming players have been selected for the four-hour display.
