Top athletes for meet

BANGALORE: Top Athletes, including PT Usha, Jyothimoy Sikdhar, Beena Mol, Amit Khanna and Bahadur Prasad have confirmed their participation in the second Athletic Circuit meet to be held here on June 10.

In all, 14 events would be held, of which six events – 200m, 400m, 800m, long jump, shot put and discus throw would be for women athelets, while men would vie for top honours in the 200m, 400m, 5000m, triple jump, shot put, discus throw and hammer throw events.

CALCUTTA: Former Test player Erapalli Prasanna feels not enough has been done for off spinner Rajesh Chauhan who had been in and out of the Indian cricket team for suspected bowling action.

Prasanna, one of the top exponents of off-spin in the world says he and Fred Titmus studied the video footage provided by the ICC in London and found nothing wrong with his action.

Hockey probables

BANGALORE: Indian hockey probables for the Commonwealth Games at Kualalumpur will be selected at the Golden Jubilee Independence Hockey Tournament to be held in Chennai from July 11-18.

Addressing a press conference here this evening after the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) meeting, IHF president KPS Gill said that 16 or 17 teams would be taking part in the tournament. He said after the selection, the probables would undergo a three-week physical training at an army institute in Pune followed by a psychological training. They would then have a 10-day camp in Chennai before the team’s departure to Kuala Lumpur.
