It’s always wise to diversify your financial portfolio, and actors take this more seriously than anyone else as they come from a high risk-high reward industry. Actor Ranbir Kapoor has been wise about his investments and recently, to expand his portfolio, he launched his fashion brand ARKS. In a recent interview, Ranbir gave a tour of his factory and spoke about the ethos and the future of his business. While netizens guessed that ARKS is named after his wife Alia Bhatt, and daughter Raha Kapoor, Ranbir clarified that this is not the case.

Ranbir posted a video on the brand’s YouTube channel, where he can be seen giving a tour of his factory and answering questions about the brand. He revealed that the factory actually belonged to his brother-in-law, Bharat Sahni. He introduced him as “the amazing Bharat” and said, “He is a gem of a guy. He was kind enough to actually let us borrow his space. He is a big part of ARKS’ story because he’s one of our manufacturers for one of our products.”

Ever since Ranbir started ARKS, fans and people on social media have been speculating whether the name is an acronym for something. Many believed that it was to honour his wife, Alia Bhatt, or maybe a present for his daughter, Raha, but it seems like none of those things are true. When asked about the name, Ranbir said, “It had different meanings to it. We started with a shoe, so at first it was ‘A Ranbir Kapoor Shoe’. Later it was ‘Ranbir Kapoor Studio’, but at one point I realised that it doesn’t really need a meaning. I think it just fit. When we heard ARKS and saw the logo, everything just came together.”

Ranbir revealed that he is deeply involved in the making of the products at h is company. “We haven’t seen this on an Excel sheet or a computer screen. It’s very touch and feel, and we have actually seen every fabric, detail and fit.” He also shared some details about the future of ARKS and how that coincides with his plans in the coming years.

As I grow older, my desire for material things is growing lesser. You always need a t-shirt or a denim jacket because you can wear it at any time. That’s where I come in with ARKS. But the plan is to really expand in different areas of lifestyle, which could be athleisure or underwear. I am also interested in the whole furniture market. So under the umbrella of ARKS, I think we’re really trying to sell a sensibility, an aesthetic. A lifestyle for the consumer.”

Ranbir will be seen in two films in 2026 – Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
