
Court stays SRFI ban on Joshna
CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has set aside a six-month ban imposed by the Squash Rackets Federation of India on Joshna Chinappa.
Justice K Govindarajan, while admitting the writ filed by the Chennai-based 13-year old, granted a stay of the SRFI resolution which had banned Joshna from participating in any competition in India or abroad.
Raman wins title
BARODA: S Raman of PSCB and Mouma Das of West Bengal won the men8217;s and women8217;s titles respectively in the All-India Ranking Table Tennis Championship West.
Raman beat Arup Basak PSCB 21-15, 21-14, 21-13 while Mouma defeated Anandita Charoborty of Railways 21-18, 18-21, 21-17, 25-23.
Anal Kashyap PSCB claimed the junior boys8217; title defeating Sukanta Das also of PSCB 21-7, 21-14, 15-21, 21-14 while Poulomi Ghatak Bengal claimed the junior girls8217; title defeating statemate Nandita Saha 21-16, 21-16, 21-12.
Meet postponed
IMPHAL: The National junior athletic meet scheduled here nextweek has been postponed to December 2-3, according to information given by Amateur Athletic Federation of India to the organising committee.
AAFI has also shortlisted 127 probables for the coming Sydney Olympics.
Middle distance runner N Gojen, K Jebeshwori, Aruna Devi and walking race specialist Y Bala figured in the list that included PT Usha, Jyotirmoyee Sikdar and Sunita Rani.

GANGTOK: Army XI lifted the 21st All-India Governor8217;s Gold Cup football tournament beating Kerala Police 3-1 in the final match at the Paljor Stadium here. Sajith Kumar, Arokia Nathan and Saroj Gurung scored for the winners while Jabir C of the Kerala Police was the lone scorer for the Police team.
