Dies of burn
Rajkot: A 22-year-old woman was burnt to death along with her six-month-old son in Harijan Vaas area of Anida Vasra village in Kotda Sanghani on Sunday. The deceased Jasuben sustained burn injuries when her clothes caught fire while making tea at her residence, the rural police said.

Liquor seized
Rajkot city police on Monday nabbed Kalpesh Vania of Kevdavadi area from a private bus while he was bringing Indian Made Foreign Liquor IMFL into the city. Police recovered 48 bottles from him and a case in the matter has been registered in Bhaktinagar police station.

Compressors
For the first time in Rajkot, two computerised compressors for filling air in two-wheelers have been installed at IOC petrol pumps on the Race Course, Ring Road and the Eagle petrol pump near Bhilwas. The computerised compressor will show air pressure in tyres which can be adjusted with buttons.

Concession
Ahmedabad: Air-India offers leave travel concession to employees and families of government, nationalised banks and PSUs in the form of special rebates in economy class fares on select domestic routes between April 15 and July 15. The one-way fare for Mumbai-Ahmedabad sector is Rs 1,490 and for Ahmedabad-Delhi is Rs 2,235.

Examinations
The charge of conducting examinations of Shiksha Shastri and Shiksha Acharya in Sanskrit has been given to Gujarat State Examination Board from Bruhad Gujarat Sanskrit Parishad with immediate effect. Minister of State for Education Anandiben Patel said performance of parishad was not satisfactory.

GCCI unhappy
The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed shock over the government decision to raise dearness allowance from Rs 6.40 to Rs 14.60 during April 1 to September 30. President Utkarsh Shah says the net increase of Rs 8.20 will entail a burden of Rs 1,039 crore a year on the industry which is passing through recession.

Transferred
Four Class I officers of junior scale of GAS were transferred. Resident Deputy Collector and prant officer of Gandhinagar K L Bachani was shifted to luxury tax department as deputy commissioner, while prant officer of Choryasi of Surat district M N Gadhvi was moved as deputy commissioner, entertainment tax. Special land acquisition officer of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd, Ahmedabad, S L Ninama was sent as resident deputy collector and prant officer, Gandhinagar and C J Patel, personal secretary to the Roads and Buildings Minister replaces Gadhvi.
