MUMBAI, May 21: Central Railway scored a facile 56-31 win over Thane Metropolitan Gymkhana in the opening match of the sixth Savio Invitational basketball tournament at Don Bosco High School today.

In the other match of the tournament, defending champions BEG survived a scare before edging out Central YMCA 68-60.

Central YMCA, who led for most of the game were done in by a tenacious fightback by BEG spikers who managed to pull off a coup in the last quarter.

RESULTS

Central Railway 56 Fazil Shaikh 13, Shahzad Shaikh 10 bt TMG 31 Sagar Joshi 11. HT 24-17.

BEG 68 Gurmeet Singh 19, Atmaram Jat 15, Om Prakash 10 bt Central YMCA Sanjiv Joseph 24, Donald D8217;Sa 23. HT 31-35.
