For all those tennis fans in this part of the world who were hoping to watch Sania Mirza and Swiss great Martina Hingis raise a rivetting duel on the final day of the Sunfeast Open, the draw would have surely left them disappointed.

As per the draw released today, the home favourite finds herself in the top half along with the former World No 1. Sania and Hingis are then likely to meet in the semi-finals, should both of them go the distance. Fifth seed Sania could run into French fourth seed Aravane Rezai in the quarters, while top seed Hingis might face sixth seed Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in the last eight.

While Sania is lucky to have drawn a qualifier in the opening round, Hingis will take on Melinda Czink who surely is no stranger to causing a few upsets at the Indoor Stadium here. The talented Hungarian had handed Sania an embarrassing second round exit last September.

Indian wild cards Shikha Uberoi, Sunitha Rao and Ankita Bhambri may have been happy to get a direct entry into the main draw, but the prospect of facing much higher ranked opponents in the first round may not be too comforting. Ankita will face fourth seed Rezai, while Sunitha has drawn Australian seventh seed Nicole Pratt in the opener. World No 192 Shikha will take on Czech Hana Sromova ranked 62 places above her.

Last year8217;s losing finalist and second seed Croatian Karolina Sprem will play Casey Dellacqua in her first round match. Third seed Yuliana Fedak of Ukraine has drawn Italian Alberta Brianti.
