AHMEDABAD, Oct 6: Upset by the hike in diesel prices just before the counting of votes, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president C D Patel on Wednesday said the move against all democratic norms. Dubbing the step as politically motivated, Patel alleged that the BJP government did not raise diesel prices earlier because that would have harmed its prospects in the elections.
The Automobile Owners8217; Association of Gujarat also described the decision as an unjust step and demanded that it be withdrawn immediately. According to association president Umesh Chhajer, the hike would further escalate transportation charges, thus putting an extra burden on the common man.
Meanwhile, the All-India Motor Transport Congress, the parent body of the All Gujarat Truck Transport Association, will organise a meeting in Delhi on October 10 where a decision will be taken.
