Paraguay coach gets the sack

Paraguay today dismissed Brazilian coach Paulo Carpegiani after the team8217;s second round defeat by France, the President of the Paraguayan football Federation Oscar Harrison said.

Carpegiani is the fourth World Cup coach to get the bullet but the first to be sacked after taking his team past the group phase. Early favourite to take over is Gustavo Benitez, the Paraguayan coach of Colo Colo in Chile. No positive tests

FIFA announced that every doping test at the World Cup, up to and including the eight second-round games, had been negative. Since the competition began on June 10, two players from each team have been tested after every match. FIFA spokesman Keith Cooper said there were no positive tests after the second round had been analyzed.
