NEW DELHI, JULY 5: Foreign direct investment FDI in telecommunication, chemicals and transport sectors in the country declined sharply in 1999-2000 despite efforts being made by the government to increase its flow, according to an analysis conducted by Assocham.

The inflow of FDI had been nearly 60 per cent less in the chemicals sector. In 1998, the inflow had been as high as Rs 1,060 crore as against Rs 821.26 crore in 1997 and Rs 439.39 crore in 1999.
