More than a year after 21-year-old Japanese student Kota Shinozaki went missing in Agra in September 2006, Japanese Ambassador to India Hideaki Domichi has brought the case into focus.

“It’s important to know what really happened. This isn’t the only case of a foreigner who has gone missing in India,” Hideaki said on a visit to Agra on Sunday. He is in the city as one of the delegates at the ‘Taj Ratna’ and ‘Taj Gaurav’ awards.

He took time off to meet Agra Mayor Anjula Singh to discuss the issue. “Till now, we have been told that the authorities have no clue of what really happened, but the Mayor has assured me that the matter will be looked into,” said Hideaki. “We hope that the people of Agra will also help us in tracing the student,” he added.
