Double delight for Ankit

It was a luck day for Ankit Sharma as he grabbed both billiards and snooker title of the junior section in the ongoing 23rd Chandigarh Billiards and Snooker Championship being held in Sector 22 in Chandigarh on Thursday.

It was a luck day for Ankit Sharma as he grabbed both billiards and snooker title of the junior section in the ongoing 23rd Chandigarh Billiards and Snooker Championship being held in Sector 22 in Chandigarh on Thursday.

In snooker finals, Ankit Sharma got the better of Madhur Mukhi 2-0 54-50, 54-48.

In the first frame Ankit made a break of 22, while Mukhi responded with a break of 19 and 16. Ankit again came up with 17 and the potted black ball to take the first frame. In second frame Mukhi was leading till end minutes when Ankit staged a fight back to claim the snooker title.

In the junior billiards final, again Ankit and Mukhi were opponents. Repeating his earlier feat, Ankit overpowered Mukhi 2-0 50- 31, 50-23 to clinch the title.

In the senior billiards, top seed Arif Akhtar of IOC overcame Rajat Khaneja 2-0 100-67,100-52. Arif earlier in an close encounter outplayed Sumit Talwar 2-0 100-73,100-71.

In another match, Sumit Talwar ousted Rajat Khaneja 2-0 100-49,100-47.
