
CHANDIGARH, July 9: Film actor Dilip Kumar, alias Mohammed Yusuf Khan, who is the director of Sagar Suri Estates and Finance Limited, has been summoned on September 22 along with other officials of the company by UT Judicial Magistrate Ist Class K.C. Garg in a bounced cheque case.
He along with eleven others, including chairman-cum-managing director G. Sagar Suri, have been accused of quot;issuing cheques with dishonest intention causing wrongful loss to the complainantquot;.
In a complaint filed under Sections 138 and 142 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, the complainant, Raj Rani, a resident of Sector 43, had alleged the dishonouring of two account payee cheques for Rs 15,500 and Rs 2,492 due to insufficient funds.
The post-dated cheques, duly signed by the authorised signatory, had been issued by the accused in discharge of their liability after Rs 15,500 was deposited with the company under one of their deposit schemes, the complaint said.
The payment was not made even after notices were sent to the accused through registered post and under the certificate of posting, according to the complaint.Seeking appropriate action against the accused, the counsel for the complainant added that the accused were aware of the lack of amount in the bank account.
