Pune Grand Tour 2026: The Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026 is India’s first multi-stage men’s road race classified under the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) 2.2 category. The five-day continental-level event places India on the global professional cycling calendar for the first time.
The race will cover a newly mapped 437-km route across the Deccan Plateau and the Sahyadri Range, featuring sharp bends, steep climbs and demanding terrain. A total of 171 riders from 29 teams representing 35 countries are competing in the event.
Pune, long associated with cycling culture and often referred to as the “City of Cycles”, is hosting the tour through District Pune, with support from multiple civic bodies and organisations aiming to showcase the region’s landscapes and establish Pune as an international cycling destination.
The UCI, the world’s governing body for bicycle-racing, classifies events under a global rating system, with the 2.2 category recognising professional-level multi-stage races on the Continental circuit.
January 19, Monday: Prologue, Goodluck Chowk (7.5 km)
January 20, Tuesday: Stage 1, Mulsi-Maval Miles (87.2 km)
January 21, Wednesday: Stage 2, Maratha Heritage Circuit (105.3 km)
January 22, Thursday: Stage 3, Western Ghats Gateway (134 km)
January 23, Friday: Stage 4, Pune Pride Loop (95 km)

The Pune Grand Tour began on Monday with a 7.5-km prologue at Goodluck Chowk, designed to establish the early general classification standings.
The race is to unfold over four demanding stages across Pune district and the Western Ghats, blending sprint finishes, sustained climbs and tactical racing.
Stage 1
The 87.2-km Mulshi–Maval Miles on January 20, will take riders through Pune’s IT corridor, including Hinjewadi.
Stage 2
Scheduled for January 21, this stage features the 105.3-km Maratha Heritage Circuit, a challenging route that includes ghat climbs around Purandar Fort, Sinhagad and Khadakwasla Lake.
Stage 3
On January 22, the race will move to the 134-km Western Ghats Gateway, stretching from Purandar to Baramati across the Deccan Plateau.
Stage 4
The five-day event will conclude with the 95-km Pune Pride Loop, an urban circuit that passes several of the city’s landmarks, including Shaniwar Wada.
Former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been named the Goodwill Ambassador for the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026.
As the Goodwill Ambassador, Dhoni will help raise the event’s profile and inspire wider interest in cycling, particularly among younger athletes.
Renowned for his focus on fitness, discipline and endurance, Dhoni embodies values central to competitive cycling. His involvement adds credibility and visibility to the Pune Grand Tour, positioning it as a landmark initiative for the growth of the sport in India.
The Bajaj Pune Grand Tour is positioned as a global challenge, inviting cyclists from around the world to participate.
The race route spans the entire Pune district and is designed to test riders on multiple fronts, including technical skill, endurance and mental resilience. Built around a high-quality support ecosystem, the event aims to deliver competition at international standards.
India will field a record 12-member contingent at the Pune Grand Tour 2026, marking the country’s largest-ever participation in the UCI-accredited men’s road race.
The Indian team is being led by Asian Championship silver medallist Harshveer Singh Sekhon.
