
NASHIK, JULY 30: A gang of 11 dacoits, which had looted eight families on a single night in Dodi and Khambale villages of Sinnar taluka, were nabbed by the police. The accused were remanded to police custody till August nine.
On Friday night, armed with choppers and knives, the gang had forced entry into houses of Namdeo Bhagat Shinde, Dilip Bhikaji Shinde, both near Dodi village, Rambhau Rakhma Khade, Changdeo Punja Khade, Raoji Rakhma Khade, Raosaheb Hari Shinde, Madhav Kundalik Shinde and Paraji Jabaji Khambale village. After assaulting the farmers and their families, they decamped with jewellery and cash worth about Rs 1 lakh after injuring four persons.
The police resorted to nakabandi and within hours the gang was nabbed while trying to flee in a truck. The police recovered the 15 mangalsutras and cash alongwith 11 knives, a Jambiya knife and a chopper.
The accused were identified as Laxman Gangadhar Barde 25, Gorakh Tukaram Gaikwad 22, Bhausaheb Nathu Pawar 25, Ratan Dada Mali 20, Sanjay Bapurao More 22 from Kopargaon in Ahmednagar district, Sahebrao Laxman Barde 30, Sanju Laxman Barde both from Niphad, Pintu Dagu Gangurde 18 from Chandwad, Ratan Soma Sonawane 30, Rajendra Devram Algat 22 from Yeola and Gorakshanath Rambhau Gorde 20 from Sinnar.
