
SAS NAGAR, Oct 5: The Central Reserve Police Force has been deployed to man the inner security ring at Shivalik Public School in Phase VI, the lone counting centre for the Kharar segment of the Roopnagar reserved constituency, where counting starts tomorrow.
SAS Nagar Superintendent of Police B.S. Randhawa said a total force of 136 personnel has been deployed at the centre headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, four Station House Officers, 13 non gazetted officers, 11 head constables, 71 constables, 21 special police officers and two sections of CRPF. The outer security cordon will be manned by the Punjab Police and inner by CRPF.
The persons on counting duty, party agents and other authorised personnel, will be frisked twice, once at the main gate and then at the inner gate. About 15 personal have been kept in reserve. The road before the counting centre will remain closed to public from 7 a.m. till the counting is over. The parking of vehicles will be 100 feet away from the counting centre, Randhawa said.
Assistant Returning Officer O.P. Popli said four duty magistrates have been put on dutyone inside the counting centre, two outside the centre and one for the township. No one would be allowed in the centre after 7 a.m. and there would be about six rounds of counting. No person will be allowed to carry a mobile phone, pager, cigerattees, match box, blade, bag etc in the counting centre. Arrangements have been made to deposit them at the main gate, from where a slip of the deposited items will be issued. Only authorised persons will be allowed inside, he said.
The ARO said the 205 ballot boxes have been kept in safe custody.
