Dongri maulana held for murde
Close on the heels of a maulana from Mumbra arrested on charges of killing his maid servant, J J Marg police took into custody a maulana from Dongri on Monday for killing the alleged lover of his wife.

Maulana Sayyed Mohammed Muzaffar Hasan confessed to the killing of Sheikh Mohammed Hasmanesa, who managed a ladies tailoring shop at Ali Umber street at Dongri, on February 24 night. The body was cut to pieces, stuffed into a large trunk and dumped near Kurla Terminus. The maulana had six accomplices in the murder including his wife Shaheen name changed, according to senior inspector N M Askulkar attached to the J J Marg police station. At around the same time J J Marg police had registered a missing-person complaint from Dongri and the Tilak Nagar police took charge of the body of an unidentified middle-aged man near Kurla Terminus.

The police were clueless after prelimnary investigations. Askulkar stated the key accused maulana Sayyed Hasan confessed to his crimeon Monday though he was being questioned since april 8 after Hasmanesa8217;s brother Afzal Sheikh Mohammed told investigators that his brother could have been murdered by Hasan. The maulana and his wife, who had managed to mislead the police for four days, were picked up on Monday whe the maulana broke down, said Askulkar. He had changed four taxis enroute Kurla. While the maulana has been handed over to the Tilak Nagar police, who are jointly investigating the case, his wife has managed to give the police a slip.

2 cops caught carrying liqour
After a long chase on the Upavan road, the Thane police arrested two police constables while smuggling illicit liquor in Thane-Mumbai area on Tuesday night. Senior police inspector of the Vartak Nagar police station Ram Kanake intercepted a car at Lokmanya Pada and to his surprise, the occupants of the car were two constables Pradeep Bhimrao Patil and Pramod Goving Mahajan carrying several gallons of illicit liquour. While Patil is attached to the Vartak Nagarpolice station, Mahajan is attached to the Navpada police station in Thane. The duo were suspended by Thane police commissioner Bhujangrao Mohite in November last year for their involvement in a major house-breaking case in Narpoli area. The constables were arrested though nothing was recovered.
