MUMBAI, MAY 25: The Central Railway operated a special mega block today due to which a number of mail, express and suburban trains were cancelled or rescheduled. The block was necessitated because of work on a foot over-bridge between Thakurli and Dombivli being taken up.
Though the block was in operation from 0030 hrs to 7000 hrs in the morning, it did not create much of a disturbance since it was a Sunday.
Among the trains cancelled were the 1325 Dn Mumbai-Pune passenger which leaves CST at 2340 hrs and the 1325 Up which leaves Pune at 2340 hrs. The Ahmedabad-Pune Ahimsa Express (1095 Dn) was diverted from the Jalgaon-Manmad-Daund-Pune route.
Nineteen up trains and one down train had to be detained at a number of places between Nasik and Kalyan and Pune and Kalyan.
Seventy-six suburban train services were cancelled in total. CR ran five extra locals (three towards Khopoli and two towards Kasara) to help passengers travelling on these routes.
