MUMBAI, OCT 2: A police constable attached to the Local Arms Unit II committed suicide in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the police, Constable Bhau Namdev Bagad 25 who was posted at the British Consulate at Maker Chambers, Nariman Point shot himself with his carbine at the consulate office where he was on night duty. He was rushed to the St George8217;s Hospital and he died while being treated at 4:00 am. A suicide note was found in his pocket. In the note, Bagad has stated that he committed suicide of his own volition and that no one should be held responsible for his death.

Initial investigations by the Cuffe Parade police revealed that Bagad who was married in April this year had strained relations with his wife.

In another incident, a thirty-six-year old man was beaten to death by some unidentified persons at Koliwada this morning.
