
CHANDIGARH, Sept 29: The Punjab Government has reduced the conversion charges for industrial units located outside the focal points in the state from Rs 500 to Rs 50 per sq. yd from the current month.
A decision to this effect was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at an interaction session with the industry held yesterday. The meeting, attended by industrialists from all over the state, highlighted the problems being faced by the industry.
Badal said that in order to meet the shortage of furnace oil and lubricating diesel LD oil, the government had already taken up the matter with state coordinator of the oil companies. A new depot for the purpose will soon be set up in Mandi Gobindgarh, he announced.
Reiterating his government8217;s commitment towards rapid industrial development, the chief minister said that for new industrial units, the sanction of sites by the Labour Department and the issue like No Objection Certificate NOC by the Pollution Control Board will be accorded by one committee 8211; the Single Window Committee 8211; set up at the Udyod Bhawan here under the Single Window System adopted by Punjab.
He further told industrialists that the district level dispute settlement committee of Punjab State Electricity Board PSEB, which was earlier dissolved following minor irritants, had been revived and had started functioning. quot;With this, any dispute relating to the payment of electricity and release of power connections to the industry will be rectified at the spot without any delay,quot; he added.
Mohali Industries Association president R S Sachdeva who attended the meeting said that the chief minister gave a patient hearing regarding the problems relating to octroi privatisation, truck unions and Sales Tax, and assured that early remedial measures would be taken to resolve these matters.
