Congratulate Modi? Not me

While Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was among the first to call and congratulate Narendra Modi on his election victory, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has refrained from showing any such magnanimity. Again, at a press conference, AICC media cell chairperson Veerappa Moily said 8220;Merry Christmas8221; and 8220;Happy New Year8221; to Modi, but did not actually congratulate him. As a senior Congress leader explained: 8220;If Madam Gandhi had congratulated him and he had retorted with a snide remark, it would have been very embarrassing.8221;
