That special time
Pregnancy is a special time for mothers. However, it can be a period fraught with anxiety for those expecting their first baby or even those who have been pregnant before. To help them cope with pregnancy and childbirth the Ante-Natal Education and Awareness Programme, Pune will conduct a one-day interactive workshop. The essential aspects of pregnancy, childbirth and new trends in ante-natal care are the topics which will be touched upon at the workshop free of cost. It will be held at the Talwalkar Fitness Fellowship Junior Gym on Fergusson College Road between 11 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. on Sunday.

The organisation has already conducted workshops on comfort measures for labour and delivery, new parenthood and baby care. As parenthood involves two individuals, the workshop also encourages fathers-to-be to join the workshop. Those who wish to register can contact Dr. Jyothi Unni at 614668 or Niloufer Ebrahim on 604722.

Get noticed
In today8217;s fast-paced life, it takes a lot to be noticed. To carry oneself with charm, sophistication and self-confidence, one needs 8211; communication skills, relationship-building abilities, grooming, knowledge of etiquette and entertainment and style and grace. Hoofrish Patel conducts personality development and grooming classes for the organisation Facets, which promises to cut a raw diamond into a brilliant gem. The course starts on July 24 and continues till August 1 and is scheduled to be conducted at the Holiday Inn from 10.30 am. to 5 p.m. If you want a perfect personality, what are you waiting for!

Aviance is here
According to the statistics, Indian women use a mere 13 ml of skin care lotion while her counterpart in Indonesia uses 130 ml in a month. To change all that, Aviance, a Unilever product was launched in Pune. The reason according to Vivek Mathur, head honcho marketing was because of the lack of customised care. An eve in humid Mumbai very obviously has different requirements from her moisturiser from her counterpart in dry and cold Delhi. To help women with their skincare needs, Aviance has employed trained personnel who will address your queries in the comfort and privacy of your home. So, not only will they dish out a cleanser but it will be done after careful consideration of your skin type, your age, your needs. The total range of skin and make-up products was launched in Pune yesterday. Aviance already has more than 100 women who have enrolled to become beauty consultants. After all, they do want to change that 13 ml usage by us desi women.

Not elementary enough
God alone knows how the rickshaw drivers pass their driving test. Actually, do they? One of the most basic rules in driving is that one does not park at a turning. The reason is obvious. For this poses a problem for the vehicles that are coming out of the lane, as it reduces visibility particularly if you are getting onto a main road from a bylane. But rickshaw drivers, it seems are either unaware or don8217;t care. As this photo shows, the lane near Kotbagi hospital on DP Road is used as a rickshaw stand. This causes immense difficulties to the drivers as the turning becomes a blind corner. Requests to the drivers have not even been considered. In fact, some of them look at you as if you have turned mad. What8217;s wrong?8217; they ask. Maybe the Rickshaw Panchayat and Rickshaw Sena will do better if it gave its members a lesson in traffic rules.
