The January 20 election of the new BJP president, which Nitin Nabin is set to win unopposed, will see BJP chief ministers converge in the national capital. Even the schedules of some of them have been prepared. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath is expected to reach Delhi on January 17, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai the next day, while their Uttarakhand and Haryana counterparts, Pushkar Singh Dhami and Nayab Singh Saini, are expected on January 19. The travel schedules of CMs of Assam, Odisha and Rajasthan were not ready until Friday.
With the presentation of the Union Budget 2026-27 two weeks away, the government is discussing how the Finance Ministry will handle one of the pre-Budget rituals — the customary photo op of the minister and officers with copies of the Budget document before they head to Parliament. Though the Finance Ministry moved out of North Block to Kartavya Bhawan in October last year, its likely to print the Budget at its North Block press as the new one isn’t fully ready yet. Now, there is no clarity on the place of the group photo — North Block or Kartavya Bhawan.
After months of searching for a venue to hold its annual ‘chintan shivir’, the Agriculture Ministry chose Pusa campus in New Delhi for the January 19-20 event. The ministry officials, besides other preparations, had sent invitations to over 100 guests, including farmers and experts, from outstations. However, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has now decided to postpone the event to the second week of February, it is learnt.
After spending nearly two months in Delhi and holding meetings with party leaders from across states, Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati has now moved to Lucknow so that she can focus on the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Sources said Mayawati will run the organisational affairs from Lucknow as it will be more convenient for the party leaders from the state to meet her in the run up to the crucial polls.
