Chelsea scored three first-half goals to beat League One team Nottingham Forest 3-0 and move into the last 16 of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Strikers Andriy Shevchenko and Didier Drogba scored within the first 18 minutes at Stamford Bridge and midfielder John Obi Mikel added a third in the 45th.

The Blues remain on course for a possible domestic cup double, playing the February 25 League Cup final against either Arsenal or Tottenham, who are tied at 2-2 after the first leg of their semi-final match.

Arsenal were playing Bolton Wanderers later in the evening, and Manchester City beat Southampton 3-1 through goals from Darius Vassell, Joey Barton and DaMarcus Beasley. Chelsea went ahead in the ninth minute when Forest failed to clear a long throw.

The ball dropped to Shevchenko, whose 10-meter shot hit defender John Curtis and deflected past wrong-footed goalkeeper Paul Smith. In the 18th, Drogba curled a free kick from six meters outside the area into the top corner of the net.

The third goal came when Lampard8217;s corner hit a Forest defender and Smith before Mikel stabbed the ball in at the far post. In a meeting of two neighbours from the League Championship, West Bromwich Albion won 3-0 at Wolves to also reach the last 16.

On Saturday, substitute Wayne Rooney scored twice as record 11-time FA Cup winner Manchester United beat Portsmouth 2-1.
