AIADMK leader hits Minister
It was yet another black day in the history of the Tamil Nadu Assembly as the leader of the AIADMK group, R. Tamaraikani, today hit Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam on his nose-bridge, causing a bleeding injury. The MLA was taken into custody from Apollo Hospital later in the evening. Speaker P.T.R. Palanivel Rajan has suspended Tamaraikani and another AIADMK MLA C. Karuppusami, for the rest of the budget session.

India, Pak swap 57 prisoners
India and Pakistan today repatriated 57 civilian prisoners kept in various jails of both the countries. India sent back 43 prisoners whereas Pakistan sent in 14 prisoners including three minors. The Pakistan prisoners left the Central security jail in Amritsar around 9.40 a.m. today in a police bus and were sent to Pakistan after completing formalities around 12.20 p.m. Earlier, a group of Indian prisoners in Pakistan reached India a little before noon under strict security.

SGPC defers action: Tohra
Former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra and "suspended" Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh would be spared further action in view of the tercentenary celebrations of the birth of the Khalsa, said SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur, while talking to mediapersons.
