
CHANDIGARH, Oct 22: The third wicket stand of 148-run between Yuvraj Singh and Vikram Sodhi enabled Chandigarh to outplay Ludhiana by 45 runs and enter the final of the Punjab Inter-District under-19 cricket tournament for Dhruve Pandove Trophy at Punjab Cricket Association PCA Stadium, SAS Nagar here today. Chandigarh will take on Amritsar in the finals tomorrow to be held at Patiala, who defeated Patiala by 119 runs in the semifinal held at Patiala today.
Chandigarh team oweed their victory to the duo of Yuvraj and Vikram Sodhi who thrashed the rival bowlers all over the field. The eventual winners were back to the pavilion in the 89.1 overs for 248.
Yuvraj who narrowly missed a century hit eleven boundaries to score 92 runs which greatly contributed to the team8217;s victory. He was ably supported by Vikram Sodhi 54.
In reply Ludhiana were bundled out for 203 in 75.4 overs.
Pradeep 68, Charanjit 37 and Deepak Dhir 34 mainly contributed to the team8217;s score.
Jaishreet and Sanjay Dhull claimed three wickets each for the winners.

TT tourney
The 3rd Chandigarh state table tennis tournament is being organised by New Public School-18 from October 27 to 29 at Sector 23 Table Tennis Hall.
The competition will be held in senior junior, sub-junior and cadet boys and girls singles categories. Entries close on October 25 with Rajeev Kaushal coach at the venue.
Yadav to lead
R R Yadav will lead an eight-member Chandigarh team in the All India Nirmala Rani Memorial shooting ball tournament to be held at New Delhi from October 24 to 25. The other members of the team includes Basant Singh, Manvir SIngh, Amarpal Tyagi, Naresh Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Udesh Sharma and Satish Kumar Awasthi.
Ram Krishan and Harbans Singh will accompany the team as coach and manager respectively.
Avineet Bajwa
It was Avineet Bajwa not Mandeep Bajwa as reported in these columns who won the title in the senior women8217;s section in the District Panchkula table tennis meet. Avineet is also representing Panchkula in the Haryana state meet being held at Faridabad.
Gymnastic team
Trials to select Chandigarh sub-junior boys and girls team for the forthcoming Sub-junior National Gymnastic championships to be held at Hyderabad from November 5 to 9 were conducted today at Shivalik Public School in Sector 41.
