Boxing squad for C8217;wealth Games

NEW DELHI, July 22: The Indian Amateur Boxing Federation has selected the boxing squad for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Kuala Lumpur in September. The selection committee met under the chairmanship of Rajesh Bhandari, secretary IABF, captain Hawa Singh Arjuna Awardee and Maj Padam Bahadur Mull Arjuna Awardee at Patiala recently. The squad: Dingko Singh bantam weight, Gurmit Singh feather weight, Jatinder Singh light middle, Gurcharan Singh light heavy wt, G S Sandhu coach in-charge, B I Fernandez Cuban coach, N S Rawat team manager, A Gongopadhay referee/judge, Kishan Narsio referee/judge.

Meanwhile, the committee took serious view about Birju Shah of Steel Plant Sports Control Board and Bhim Singh for not taking part in the selection trials. Bhandari said that strict action will be taken against these boxers.
