New Hughes chairman
MUMBAI: Pradman Kaul, president and chief operating officer, Hughes Network Sytems HN, has been promoted as chairman and CEO of HNS. He succeeds Jack A Shaw, corporate executive vice-president of Hughes and chairman and CEO of Hughes Network Systems, who has been promoted to corporate senior executive vice-president of Hughes Enterprise Sector, which will include Hughes Network Systems, Panamsat, and the enterprise applications of Direct PC and Spaceway.

SKF Bearings
MUMBAI: SKF Bearings India Limited has announced a net profit of Rs 9.8 crore for the period April to December 1999 as against a net loss of Rs 35.3 crore in the corresponding period last year. The nine-month results represent the fiscal year results consequent to the company changing its accounting year to January, December in 1999. The board of directors has recommended a dividend at the annual rate of 15 per cent. Domestic sales, which recorded an increase of 8 per cent during the 1999 fiscal, benefited from the overall improvement in the industrial climate.

Gold Festival
MUMBAI: The Mumbai Gold Festival 2000 held the prize distribution ceremony of its second draw of the festival which was held the previous week. As many as 50 lucky winners of the second draw walked away with 20 gold prizes, plus 30 other prizes.

Subsequent to the prize distribution ceremony, the Mumbai Gold Festival 2000 held its third weekly draw at the Taj Mahal Hotel on February 10, 2000.

Model Namrata Barua and TV star Rahul Bhat were present to announce the winners. The third draw of the festival saw 20 people win 20 gold prizes of 1000 grams each.
