Barkandi8217;s remand extended

CHANDIGARH, Sept 1: Muktsar Shiromani Akali Dal president Manjit Singh Barkandi and Sangrur DSP Jagjit Singh Gill, along with 14 co-accused in District Courts firing case, were further remanded to judicial custody till September 14 by UT Judicial Magistrate Ist Class A K Bishnoi, here today.

They were earlier booked under the Arms Act, for attempting to murder, causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty, obstructing public servant in discharge of his functions and for rioting, armed with deadly weapons after the July 6 firing.

According to the prosecution, the accused had gathered in support of Harvinder Singh, accused of killing Manjit Singh, a resident of S. A. S. Nagar, in the Sector 10 market.
