
CALCUTTA, JULY 2: Mohun Bagan will clash with Bangladeshi club Sangshad in the first round of the 19th Asian Club Championship.
The date and the venues of the matches have not yet been decided by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), according to a press release by All-India Football Federation (AIFF).
The two clubs will play on a home and away basis and the winning team would meet Jubilo of Japan in the pre-quarter final round.
India will take on Thailand in the Pre-Olympic Asia Group 9 match. The first leg match will be played in Suphanbari, Thailand, on July 17 while the second leg will be held at Calcutta’s Salt Lake Stadium on July 24.
Due to the last minute withdrawal of Singapore, Brunei and Laos from the tournament, Group 9 has been reduced to just two teams.
The release said the Asian Women’s Championship will be held in Philipines from November 7-21. Altogether 15 teams — Philippines, China, Chinese Taipei, Guam, Nepal, Hong Kong, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Korean Republic, Malaysia,Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and India — have confirmed participation.
The coaching camp for the Indian women footballers would commence in Patiala shortly.
