NEW DELHI, MARCH 14: Taking serious note of the Bihar Government's failure to check the ``parallel administration'' being run by extremist forces in central and south central districts of the state, the Union Home Ministry has decided to post an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in all the extremist-affected districts.The ASPs would be responsible for controlling the rising influence of these ultra-Left forces and maintaining law and order in extremist-prone areas.The Government has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh to each ASP for carrying out their duties which includes construction of approach roads to Naxal-affected villages. This decision was taken at a meeting of senior ministry officials last week. Besides adequate vehicles, the ministry has granted extra police forces with arms and ammunition for all the Naxal prone districts including Palamau, Gaya, Hazaribagh, Chatra, Dhanbad, Jehanabad, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Sasaram, Patna, Aurangabad.Speaking to The Indian Express today, Home Secretary B PSingh said: ``These new police officials have been directed to keep a close watch on all the vulnerable districts, which have become a den of ultra-Left forces and private armies''. He added: ``After assessing the prevailing situation, the Government just cannot leave the people at the mercy of these forces."
